About the Hollywood Intensive
The Hollywood Intensive is a Training Intensive where students take classes with two of the world renowned Acting Schools in Los Angleles – the Stella Adler Academy of Acting and the Sanford Meisner Centre.
Stella Adler and Sanford Meisner were two of the most influential teachers of Acting in the US – both trained personally with the father of modern acting Konstantin Stanislavski and went on to develop acting techniques of that have been studied by some of the most notable actors in the world.
The Training
Stella Adler’s technique is founded on an actor’s ability to imagine a character’s world. Her technique encourages actors to expand their understanding of the world, in order to create compelling performances.
Meisner training consists of an interdependent series of training exercises that build on one another. Through these exercises students develop an ability to first improvise, then to access an emotional life, and finally to bring the spontaneity of improvisation and the richness of personal response to texts.
What's Included
As well as studying with these Master Teachers we explore the industry in LA – learning about the writing process, how special affects are created and much more in the Warner Bros Studio Tour. We see LA actors and comedians live at the world renowned Groundlings theatre where we attend an evening of Sketch Comedy and Improvisational Theatre.
We attend a live taping of a TV Show and watch the actors work, learning more about the actor / director relationship and the process of shooting a multi – camera show from the best in the Industry.
We check out the famous “Chinese Theatre” on Hollywood Boulevards “Walk Of Fame”, we stop by the legendary Griffiths Observatory and hike up to the Hollywood Sign. We visit Venice Beach with it’s amazing stalls and buskers and walk the Venice Boardwalk up to the iconic Santa Monica Pier.
There’s also a visit to Farmer’s Market – where we mix with the locals and industry folk while we sample the typical LA cuisine and shop till we drop. It’s a jam packed week!

You’ll get a big boost in confidence from training in the heart of Hollywood with some of the world’s best teachers and treading the same floors as Marlon Brando, Selma Hayek and Mark Ruffalo. It’s inspiring and will motivates you on your path ahead.
To date we have had over 180 actors take the Hollywood Intensive. A handful of these actors have since been offered scholarships for further study at Stella Adler and have gone on to develop relationships with Managers and Agents in the US. For those actors the Hollywood Intensive has provided a launching pad for their career in LA.

Accommodation
Our accomodation will be at the Hollywood Celebrity Hotel which is located right in the heart of Hollywood – one street back from the Hollywood Walk of Fame and Chinese theatre and 5 mins walk from the Stella Adler Academy of Acting.
Sue Ross, Director of Screen Actors Australia is the group leader of the Intensive. Sue has taken over 180 actors on Hollywood Intensives over the last 15 years. Sue lived and worked as a producer/ director in the US for 5 years and has since been working as an Agent and Acting Teacher in Australia.
